Apple Starts Countdown to 25 Billionth Application Download

Apple has started countdown for the 25 billionth app download from its AppStore. A special promotional page at the company’s website says the following –

As of today, nearly 25 billion apps have been downloaded worldwide. Which is almost as amazing as the apps themselves. So we want to say thanks. Download the 25 billionth app, and you could win a US$10,000 App Store Gift Card.* Just visit the App Store and download your best app yet.

A section on the App Store states that the person downloading the 25 billionth app will be awarded a $ 10000 App Store Gift Card. There is also an entry form available for the contest here

In the previous quarter Apple made $700 million from its App Store taking the total App Store revenue till date to mind-blowing $4 billion. These figures go on to show how strongly the Apple’s ecosystem is being accepted and also the strong response of people towards iOS. Apps also keep the future aspects for Apple strong. Also, recently it was reported that Apple sold more iOS devices last year than Macs till date.

Unlike other platforms, Apple push the software update at once for all over the world. This is the reason why a 2 year old iPhone 3GS still sells in the market due to the fact that it runs the latest OS from Apple. iOS devices at least take a year to get obsolete in the market. Even if you sell your phone after a year, the value could take over your expectations.

Let’s know what do you think about it in the comment section.
